C-130 Mission

                                                15 June 2017

Crew: Harvey Prior (Coxswain), Jim Ryder, Walter Murray (Crew) Eddie Townsend (trainee)

                                                                                    2 Active Duty Coasties

We rendezvoused with the C-130 approximately 10 miles west of Anclote Key on the Gulf of Mexico. The C-130 will define the drop zone with flares then parachute a P-6 pump in a can that can pump 250 gallons of water a minute. They come around again and drop a K-5 pack of 5 packs on 1000 feet of line at 200 foot intervals containing food, meds & rafts. These drills are for rescues outside a HH-60 Helicopter's range which approximately 300 miles while a C-130 range is more than 1800 miles. We will have 2 active duty coasties on our boat to return the equipment after it is recovered back to Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater.
There is a message drop where the C-130 comes in low & drops a thank you message  ( below)
